On Monday I started my beginners jewellery course. I was a bit worried it would be very basic, starting with something like beading and then perhaps going on to silver work. I was really happy to start straight away by making a silver band ring.
Because it was the first lesson, we had to go through all the health and safety stuff and an introduction to all the tools that we’d be using, which ate into the hands on time, but thats important stuff that needs to be covered in every course obviously. This coming week, we’ll be carrying on with the rings we’ve been making by finishing them off and polishing them up. I can’t wait!!
Of course, I had to have a little accident haha I managed to saw into my finger slightly, still its a lesson learnt!
Here is the ring in process. I still need to shape it a bit more and file it so its more even, but it’s getting there

Great start to your course…just warning you that your lovely nails won’t be quite so lovely before long!
Haha thanks Lisa. Yes, I’ve already broken my thumb nail! My tutor actually commented on my nails saying that she was unable to have long nails doing it full time. I said I’d have to file them down for this coming week

Im currently doing a course on silversmithing and my most recent piece was a ring. Definitely fun to make. I absolutely love it! I’m just waiting for it to be marked by my lecturer before I get it back and post some photos
Thank you Hannah, I’ve just had a look at your blog and love your work. I look forward to seeing the photos xx
